Good news, all Harsh Star members are now able to collaborate via the downloads area of the Forum. Let there be Music! Let there be Collaboration! Let there be Creation!
We're also pleased to introduce Mike J's addition to the Harsh Star Collective.
In browser game news Penguin the Pirate has been declared winner in the first round of Alien Assault Traders. Congratulations! Some of the turn regen settings for round 2 have been changed. You can now have a maximum of 30,000 turns generated at a rate of 33 turns per every 5 minutes. That works out to roughly 10,000 turns per day, or a 30,000 turn splurge every 3 days. We've already got 4 players so far and it looks like Viking King has taken the early lead this round. Remember to invite your friends.
In addition we've got a new PBBG RPG up and running called Dragon Knight.
Effort is constantly being applied around the entire site in anticipation of our first real world inerpolation. Under the hood we've been testing multiple Content Management Systems, Games, Scripts, etc and also pruning and restructuring the site to help provide you with the best experience.
Look around, Listen, Play, Create.

Hell Yeah :)
After a month of tedious mixing, arrangement, and bleeping, the first official Harshstar podcast has been released for your listening pleasure. Initially recorded on a Panasonic micro-cassette tape recorder, the podcast dramatically evolved over the course of February into a full-fledged background themed experience. Music featured on the cast is taken from Harshstar's videos and audio works. Please sit back and devour your snack em's as we talk about the site, video games, music, shoegazing, and more...
Right + Save As... to download
Harshstar Podcast 3-4-09
duration: approximately 32 minutes
podcast attendants: Starlach, DanK, BryanP
audio engineer: DanK
*patience is the key if you wish to skip ahead in the podcast while streaming*
Keep in mind this is our first attempt and we plan to make shorter podcasts in the future :)

We now have chat rooms to let us all talk in real time. We have a file management system to let you download / upload files , rate them etc. (currently limited to files under 2MB)

Music Update

I've uploaded two new videos called "The Casio Ambulance" and "I Can't get you out of my Head," which feature the use of the Casio CT-640 (a keyboard from the eighties), a Yamaha DGX-205 (a decent keyboard from around 2007), and a Casio SA-75 (A present day keyboard a.k.a, "poor man's keyboard", which you can buy from Toys' R US for about 60 bucks). Eventually I will add guitar effects pedals into the mix by routing each keyboard thru a series of pedals. From there they will flow into my Tascam 424 mkIII mixer and into my comp for recording.
I'm pondering the thought of creating a continuous sound by running each keyboard thru a delay, and then adjusting the sound levels and panning of each keyboard on my mixer. It's basically dabbling on the thought of shoegaze music and the wall of sound concept.

These works are in reflection of the Harshstar project. Speaking of which, we don't have the podcast ready just yet :) There are a few audio bugs in the mix, so from now on there will be no promises, just straight up posting.
Peace

Podcast and New Song in the Works

The Podcast is nearing it's completion with the recent addition of background music. However, bleeps need to be added for profanity, and the project itself needs another remix before it's release. A new song which features video game stylings will be added to Dan Kaufman's Music Lair, as well as new artwork he's completed in the past month. The website is getting an overhaul in preparation for public release. So if you see something that doesn't look quite right, it most likely isn't :) Forum memberships require our approval at this time.
First harshstar.com podcast

We recorded the first harshstar.com podcast the other night from the undisclosed location that is our studio.. DanK is currently doing the audio engineering, while Starlach, DanK, and our special guest BryanP all helped to make the first podcast happen.
We also discussed the flyer design we are going to use for an upcomming event here in our hometown. It's looking similer to the blackstar site logo at the top right corner of this page.
This will also be my first blog update from my ipod touch. I'm using the iblogger app with a blogger.com account tied to rapidweaver to do it and I gotta say this new world of digital portability is very cool. See you space cowboy...
